Job summary

Rosenbauer America Group is seeking a Machine Operator to read blueprints and schematics, load metal sheets, and bend parts for fire apparatus components.

You will operate brake presses and plasma machines, ensuring bends meet specifications while maintaining safe production practices. The role requires basic reading of CAD and body prints and teamwork to support manufacturing goals.

Qualifications

Position Summary

The Machine Operator reads and follows detailed blueprints and schematics to bend sheets of metal. This position requires the lifting of metal sheets into machines to shear and bend to make bodies, hose bed covers, and other parts, as necessary. They must also ensure that the bend meets angle grade and other specifications of the build.

Knowledge, Education, And/or Experience

• High school diploma/GED required.

Skills

• Language: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

Math

• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals is required.

Computer

• Ability to perform intermediate PC functions including spreadsheet formulas and functions, queries, tables, merges, and special reports.
• Will perform some troubleshooting.
• Intermediate experience required.

Abilities

• Knowledge of basic inspection tools, machining skills or related fields.
• Able to recognize the importance and adhere to all safety policies to promote a safe working environment.
• Able to read and work from blueprints/spec book.
• Ability to use basic hand tools and tape measure required.
• Ability to identify quality issues and recognize changes within one’s production process and make the needed adjustments.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and work well in a team environment.
• Must be able to lift/manipulate large and heavy sheet metal parts and brake press tooling.
• Ability to identify issues with metal sheets to make sure the customer’s expectations are met.
