Job summary

North American Stainless is seeking an experienced Long Product Hot Rolling Mill RSB Stand Assembly Operator. The role involves assembling roll units, following setup procedures, and coordinating with the Roll Shop team to meet quality and productivity goals in a safe environment.

You will dismantle and re-assemble roll components, set up stands, and use SWI/flow charts/checklists. Cross-training across roll shop duties is expected to support continuous maintenance and changeovers.

Qualifications

• Basic mechanical experience is required.
• General metal working and fabrication experience is preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills are important.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with the Roll Shop Shift Leader and Roll Shop Group Leader to determine stands for upcoming dimension changes and for back up rolls.
• Work as part of a crew, communicating with team during the day’s work.
• Retrieve necessary rolls and components from inventory and stage for assembly.
• Dismantle and re-assemble roll units to the required dimensions and setup.
• Set up stands and mill equipment using SWIs, flow charts, and checklists.
• Operate overhead crane and forklift.
• Maintain proper documentation for maintenance scheduling.

This position of the Long Product Hot Rolling Mill RSB Stand Assembly Operator is responsible for all operating functions as listed below. Proper assembling of the roll units must be understood in total with the focus of utilizing the equipment to meet all the quality and productivity goals in a safe manner.

This position of the Long Product Hot Rolling Mill RSB Stand Assembly Operator is responsible for all operating functions as listed below. Proper assembling of the roll units must be understood in total with the focus of utilizing the equipment to meet all the quality and productivity goals in a safe manner.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Communication with the Roll Shop Shift Leader and Roll Shop Group Leader is essential

to know what stands to assemble for upcoming dimension changes and/or back up rolls for current product.

• Must work together as a member of crew, communicating with each other in the normal

course of the day's work.

• Once the rolling schedule is determined, the stand operator will retrieve necessary rolls

and components from inventory and stage for assembling of the roll units ensuring that all set-up procedures and safety protocols have been followed.

• Dismantle and re-assemble all roll units components to the desired dimensions and setup.
• Responsible for utilizing SWI's, flow charts, set-up sheets and checklists to ensure proper

set up of stands and mill equipment.

• Coordinate roll set ups to meet the needs of the rolling mill and the forward rolling

schedule.

• Responsible to be adequately cross trained in all areas of the roll shop duties in order to

• Keep proper documentation (paper and computer) to allow for a proper maintenance

schedule of the equipment.

• Inspection and replacement of all worn and malfunctioning components and seals.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

Minimum Of a High School Degree Or Equivalent Required.

Basic mechanical experience and background required.

General Metal Working And Fabrication Experience Preferred.

PHYSICAL ABILITIES REQUIRED:

• Mobility in plant
• While performing the duties of (this job), the employee is regularly required to sit, stand,

walk, etc.

• The employee is frequently required to make use of their hands for technical tasks
• The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
• Visual ability with or without correction

Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations or Company policy

• Must follow all Lock out Tag out (LOTO) guidelines for designated machines
