RS Interior Install Technician II (Second Shift) in GAC Appleton

Unique Skills:

The Interior Installation Technician II works under general supervision to remove, install, and/or fabricate aircraft interiors, which may include items such as trim, carpet, soundproofing, light structures, cabinetry, panels, and other accessories. All work must be in accordance with company design specifications and quality standards, meeting customer expectations.

Education and Experience Requirements:

High School Diploma or GED required. 2 years of applicable installation, fabrication, or related experience. Experience in the aerospace industry is preferred.

Position Purpose: The Interior Installation Technician II works under general supervision to remove, install, and/or fabricate aircraft interiors, ensuring all work complies with design specifications and quality standards.

Job Description:

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Safely perform aircraft removal, installation, and/or fabrication of aircraft interiors, including galleys, closets, lavatories, side ledges, bulkheads, doors, and panels. Coordinate with supervision and Inspection to ensure compliance with procedures, paperwork, sign-offs, and quality standards.
  2. Use the material tracking system to create parts demand, track issues, and sign off work.
  3. Follow standard operating procedures when using tools and equipment such as hand tools, band saws, shears, sanders, and brakes. Properly care for and maintain shop equipment and tools.
  4. Prepare and install aircraft interior items according to company procedures and quality standards.
  5. Remove and re-install nut plates, inserts, and fasteners used in aircraft interiors, applying hardware correctly.
  6. Comply with safety, 5S, and housekeeping policies, using PPE as required. Address unsafe conditions proactively.
  7. Assist technicians with aircraft maintenance tasks under supervision.
  8. Adapt to schedule changes as needed.

Additional Functions:

  1. Work with leads and higher-skilled technicians to develop process improvements using Lean Six Sigma and other techniques.
  2. Create and use simple patterns employing standardized procedures.
  3. Support aircraft certification and final testing, including flight tests if required.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints and engineering documentation.
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools related to interior installation and removal.
  • Ability to climb ladders, work in restricted spaces, lift up to 40 pounds, and work any shift.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
