Job description

RS Cabinet Maker II in GAC Dallas

Unique Skills:

This position requires general computer knowledge. A machining background would be helpful. Must be able to read a tape measure and solve basic mathematical problems.

Education and Experience Requirements:

High School Diploma or GED required. At least 2 years of experience in cabinetmaking. Knowledge of Gulfstream inspection and process specifications is preferred. Aerospace industry experience is also preferred.

Position Purpose: Under general supervision, fabricates aircraft furniture and other wood-surfaced subassemblies according to aircraft specifications, design, and engineering drawings, emphasizing safety, quality, and productivity. Supports team members to improve techniques and ensure quality workmanship.

Job Description:

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Fabricates furniture and wood-surfaced subassemblies using blueprints, aircraft specifications, and engineering drawings.
  2. Assembles, pins, and glues cabinet shells; installs hardware such as drawer slides, hinges, and latches; applies exterior surface materials like laminates and veneers.
  3. Uses stationary and hand-held power tools for fabrication and disassembly.
  4. Follows safety, 5S, and housekeeping policies; uses PPE to protect aircraft interiors.
  5. Uses material tracking systems for parts demand, squawk tracking, and work sign-off.

Additional Functions:

  1. Collaborates with lead and skilled technicians to develop process improvements using Lean Six Sigma and other techniques to enhance safety, reduce costs, and improve cycle times.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Other Requirements:

  1. Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  2. Capable of climbing ladders and stairs, working in confined spaces, lifting up to 40 pounds, and working any shift.
  3. Computer literate.
  4. Basic knowledge of cabinetmaking processes, products, and tools.
