High School Diploma or GED required. Woodworking, wood finishing, or auto body & painting experience in a technical environment, or completion of a Technical Certificate in cabinet making, is preferred. Completion of a current year youth apprenticeship program in the area of expertise is also acceptable.

Position Purpose: Under direct supervision, learns and performs the basic skills and functions related to fabrication of aircraft cabinets and other wood-surfaced subassemblies using design and engineering drawings.

Job Description

Principle Duties and Responsibilities: Essential Functions:

  1. Learns entry-level technical skills, regulatory requirements, and tooling used in aircraft cabinet making. Develops technical competency and problem-solving abilities to progress to the technician level.
  2. Uses standard safety and operating procedures, design/engineering drawings, tools, and materials (laminates, veneers, cap strips) to develop proficiency in preparing and making furniture.
  3. Utilizes the material tracking system to create parts demand, track issues, and sign off completed work.
  4. Complies with all safety, 5S, and housekeeping policies; uses personal protective equipment; ensures aircraft interior is protected. Assists in related initiatives.
  5. Performs other duties as assigned.

Other Requirements:

  1. The ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  2. Able to climb ladders and stairs, work in small restricted areas, lift up to 40 pounds, and work any shift.
  3. Must be computer literate.
