Job description

RS Avionics_Elec Tech II in GAC Appleton

Unique Skills:

Candidate must be a team player with a strong work ethic, willing to learn, with keen attention to detail and quality.

Education and Experience Requirements:

High School Diploma or GED required. Four (4) years of experience in an avionics/electrical career field, or two (2) years of accredited schooling in aviation electronics plus two (2) years of related experience. An FAA A&P license is preferred, along with FCC and NCATT certifications.

Position Purpose: Provides technical expertise in testing aircraft systems, troubleshooting, and repairing discrepancies to ensure minimal schedule impact. Implements process improvements to reduce costs and meet schedules without compromising safety or quality. May substitute for the Senior Avionics/Electrical Technician to uphold safety and quality standards while adhering to work plans.

Job Description

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Demonstrates expertise in avionics and aircraft systems testing and troubleshooting.
  2. Performs installation and functional testing of electrical/avionics components per specifications, drawings, and manuals, ensuring defect-free systems.
  3. Ensures quality and efficiency in all installations, troubleshooting to provide timely repairs.
  4. Effectively repairs or replaces defective components and wiring, demonstrating proper techniques including splicing, soldering, and pinning.
  5. Implements engineering changes and modifications as required.
  6. Sets up and operates test equipment, conducting functional and operational tests.
  7. Documents all work thoroughly for inspections.
  8. Maintains and tests test equipment and electronic systems.
  9. Adheres to safety regulations and company programs such as FOD, tool control, and 5-S.
  10. Adapts to schedule changes promptly.

Additional Functions:

  • Supports aircraft certification and testing, including flight tests if necessary.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Other Requirements:

  • Proficiency in troubleshooting other aircraft systems like hydraulics, landing gear, or environmental controls is preferred.
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Physical ability to climb stairs/ladders, work in confined spaces, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Fluent in English.
