Job summary

Oriana House, Inc. is seeking a front-line Corrections/Facility Technician to support inmate and client services. The role requires maintaining security protocols, conducting rounds, completing intake procedures, and executing policy-driven tasks in a correctional environment.

Qualified applicants must have a High School diploma or GED, with preference for an Associate’s degree in human services. A valid Ohio driver's license is required to work in this setting.

Responsibilities

  • Reads, initials, and dates shift reports within first 60 minutes of shift.
  • Checks perimeter doors at shift start/end; records results.
  • Maintains floor presence; conducts frequent facility rounds at 30-minute intervals.
  • Completes intake activities, random alco-sensor tests, urine drug screens, dorm searches, pat downs, and drills as per policy.
  • Ensures PREA results and client information are documented in ORION.

**TIERED PAY RATE**

(Pay Range: $17.20-$20.80 based on education/experience)

$17.20/hour with HS Diploma or GED

$18.20/hour with Bachelor’s Degree

Reads, initials, and dates shift reports within first 60 minutes of shift.

Checks all perimeter doors at the onset and end of each shift to ensure they are locked and alarms are armed. Records results of check on shift report each shift.

Consistently adheres to, enforces, and effectively implements Agency and program policies and procedures, the Federal Bureau of Prisons Statement of Work, and keeps current of any changes in policies and procedures.

  • Supervises the daily activities of clients while in the facility to include, but not limited to: clean up, signing in and out of the facility, recreation, visitation, and meal times.
  • Accurately accounts for the whereabouts of each client by conducting and documenting facility whereabouts three (3) times per shift in accordance with Agency policy and procedures.

Maintains an active presence on the floor (common and dorm areas) by conducting frequent circulations of the facility at a minimum 30 minute interval. Checks for unsafe conditions and facility and dorm cleanliness. Documents and corrects conditions/takes steps to correct conditions as required.

  • Completes scheduled activities including, but not limited to: intakes, random alco-sensor tests, urine drug screens, dorm searches, pat downs, and emergency drills (fire, tornado, etc.) in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Conducts alcohol testing and collects urine specimens in accordance with Agency policy and procedure.

Conducts client intakes. Ensures that all forms are filled out accurately and completely (e.g., are signed by the client and the staff member). Ensures that all information, including PREA results, is documented in ORION under client profile.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School diploma or equivalent required. Associate’s Degree in human services field preferred. Relevant job experience may be substituted for preferred college degree. Must possess a valid Ohio driver’s license and a driving record that does not preclude the employee from being covered by Agency liability insurance. Must have the cognitive skills needed to complete tasks, including abilities such as learning, remembering, focusing, categorizing, and integrating information for decision making, problem solving, and comprehending. Has the ability to perform under stress and/or in emergencies. Must be able to obtain and maintain federal clearance from the Federal Bureau of Prisons , in accordance with the Statement of Work, in order to be employed at the RRC. Must have the ability to effectively work with Agency employees, outside contacts, and a diverse client population.
