Job summary

UAB Medicine in Alabama is seeking a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist to perform sleep studies and support diagnostic testing. The role requires night shifts (6:00pm–6:00am) Wednesday through Friday at UAB St. Vincent's Chilton County.

Candidates must be BRPT/ABSM certified and hold a valid BLS, with appropriate education as listed. The department emphasizes high-quality patient care in a large health system with extensive sleep-related services.

Qualifications

  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Currently registered as a Registered Polysomnographic Technician (RPSGT) with a certificate from the BRPT or Registered Sleep Technologist with ABSM required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patient and equipment for ordered testing. Interview patient to determine sleep disorder issues and to explain testing procedures.
  • Perform and document testing. Monitor patient throughout testing and intervene as necessary to resolve patient needs or equipment issues.
  • Collect, analyze and integrate patient information to identify and meet patient-specific needs; score, interpret and report results of sleep studies.
  • Prepare, calibrate, repair and maintain equipment required for testing. Determine and report needed repairs/replacements.

Education

High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required
