Job description

A position has been declared open in the Weber School District at Roy High School for an Assistant Head Custodian. This position is for 8.00 hours per day, 257 days (12 months) per year and is paid according to Lane 4 of the Custodial Salary Schedule.

Purpose Statement

The job of High School Assistant Head Custodian was established for the purpose of maintaining an attractive, sanitary, and safe facility for students, staff, and the public; providing equipment and furniture arrangements for meetings, classroom activities, and events; minimizing property damage, loss, and liability exposure; ensuring that assignments are completed in a safe, proper, and timely manner; and overseeing assigned part-time custodians in the performance of their assignments.

Essential Functions:
  1. Arranges and supervises the arrangement of furnishings and equipment for the purpose of providing adequate preparations for assemblies, lunchroom, meetings, classroom activities, and special events.
  2. Chairs risk management committee and serves on other school committees as may be required for the purpose of conveying information and/or receiving information.
  3. Cleans and supervises the cleaning of the school facilities (e.g., classrooms, offices, restrooms, multipurpose rooms, grounds, snow removal, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining a sanitary, safe, and attractive environment.
  4. Coordinates scheduled special events, meetings, community functions, etc., for the purpose of ensuring availability of facilities and/or equipment and providing information required for billing.
  5. Delivers various items (e.g., supplies, mail, packages, furniture, etc.) for the purpose of distributing materials to the appropriate parties.
  6. Directs assistant head custodian, part-time custodial personnel, and substitute staff for the purpose of maximizing the efficiency of the workforce, assisting in performance evaluations, and meeting shift requirements.
  7. Inspects school facilities for the purpose of ensuring that the site is suitable for safe operations, maintained in an attractive and clean condition, and performing necessary minor repairs due to vandalism, equipment breakage, weather conditions, etc., and/or referring to other district personnel for resolution.
  8. Maintains supplies and equipment (e.g., cleaning solutions, paper products, vacuums, mops, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the availability of items required to properly maintain facilities.
  9. Performs fire drills for the purpose of ensuring that staff and students are familiar with emergency procedures.
  10. Prepares documentation (e.g., work schedules, work orders, requisitions, budget requests, etc.) for the purpose of providing written support and/or conveying information.
  11. Prepares the facility for daily operations (e.g., opening gates, building access doors, disarming security systems, heaters, repairs, snow removal, programming bell systems, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring school facilities are operational and safe for occupancy.
  12. Repairs furniture, doors, hangs blackboards, performs emergency repairs, replaces filters, ceiling, walls, etc., for the purpose of ensuring the safe and efficient utilization of space.
  13. Responds to immediate safety and/or operational concerns, including after hours (e.g., facility damage, injured and ill students, alarms, etc.)
  14. Experience: Job-related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is required.
  15. Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required.
