Job summary

Circle S Ranch is seeking a Row Crop Farm Hand to support planting, fertilizing, irrigation, spraying, and harvesting of row crops. You will operate tractors, combines, and sprayers, performing routine maintenance and field inspections to ensure safe, efficient production.

Ideal candidates have a strong work ethic, basic mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions. A valid driver’s license is required, and CDL is preferred or willingness to obtain.

Qualifications

  • Previous farming or heavy equipment experience preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to operate tractors and implements.
  • Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred or willing to obtain.

ROW CROP FARM HANDRow Crop OperationsJob SummaryThe Row Crop Farm Hand is responsible for assisting in all aspects of crop production, equipment operation, and general farm maintenance for Circle S Ranch. This role supports the planting, fertilizing, irrigation, spraying, and harvesting of row crops while ensuring safe, efficient, and consistent operations. The ideal candidate has a strong work ethic, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.Reporting RelationshipsReports directly to the Row Crop Manager or Farm Supervisor.Works closely with other farm laborers, equipment operators, and mechanics.No direct reports.Personal CommitmentsCommitment to safety, reliability, and quality work.Dedication to teamwork, communication, and continuous learning.Respect for equipment, property, and environmental stewardship.Willingness to take direction and complete assigned tasks efficiently.Essential Functions & ResponsibilitiesCrop Production SupportAssist with ground preparation, planting, spraying, fertilizing, and harvesting operations.Operate tractors, combines, sprayers, and other farm equipment safely and efficiently.Help calibrate and maintain equipment to ensure accurate application and operation.Load and unload seed, fertilizer, and harvested grain as directed.Perform routine field inspections for crop health, pest issues, and irrigation needs.Assist with irrigation system setup, monitoring, and maintenance.Transport materials, supplies, and equipment between fields or facilities as needed.Equipment Operation & MaintenanceConduct pre-operation inspections of machinery and report any needed repairs.Perform basic maintenance such as greasing, fueling, cleaning, and minor repairs.Maintain cleanliness and organization of shop, tools, and work vehicles.Safely transport and handle agricultural products, chemicals, and fuel.Support off-season equipment maintenance and storage preparation.Farm & Property MaintenanceAssist with mowing, fencing, drainage, and road maintenance projects.Support grain handling and storage operations, including loading and unloading trucks.Help maintain buildings, sheds, and grounds in safe, clean condition.Monitor and maintain farm biosecurity and environmental standards.Follow supervisor instructions for special projects, land clearing, or construction support.Safety & ComplianceFollow all Circle S Ranch safety policies, PPE requirements, and equipment operation procedures.Adhere to environmental regulations and proper chemical handling practices.Maintain awareness of field conditions and weather for safe operation.Report safety concerns, spills, or mechanical issues immediately to supervisors.Participate in safety meetings and training as required.Skills, Education, and ExperienceHigh school diploma or GED required.Previous experience in farming, agriculture, or heavy equipment operation preferred.Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with tractors, implements, and GPS systems a plus.Ability to operate and maintain farm machinery safely and efficiently.Basic knowledge of crop production, fertilizers, and irrigation helpful.Excellent work ethic, reliability, and communication skills.Ability to work independently or as part of a team.Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required; CDL preferred or willingness to obtain.Physical RequirementsMust be able to lift up to 75 pounds regularly.Requires frequent standing, walking, climbing, bending, and carrying.Must be able to work in hot, cold, dusty, and noisy environments.Ability to work long hours, weekends, and during peak seasonal periods.Must be able to wear required PPE including gloves, boots, safety glasses, and hearing protection.Equal Employment Opportunity & ComplianceCircle S Ranch is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate based on race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, or any other status protected by federal, North Carolina, or South Carolina law.
