Lake Washington School District is looking for Custodial Rovers to work flexible hours in day or night shifts. The role involves maintaining cleanliness and safety at school facilities. Hourly Rate: $31.29 (SC5Custodians25-26 salary schedules). This position is eligible for membership in the International Union of Operating Engineers Local No. 286.
Custodial Rovers will be under the direction of the Custodial Supervisor(s), while working flexible hours for either a day or night shift; communicate with District and site administrators related to the care, cleaning and maintenance of the school facility; perform custodial activities during a day or night shift at an assigned Lake Washington School District facility to maintain buildings, office space and grounds. Custodial Rovers will be responsible for sanitation, maintenance, safety, comfort and security of school or district building to create and maintain a safe and pleasant environment for students and staff.
Note: In terms of an 8‑hour workday, "Occasionally" = 1‑33%; "Frequently" = 34‑66%; "Continuously" = 67‑100%. Occasionally: sit, lift and/or carry up to 50 lbs. Frequently: lift and/or carry up to 25 lbs.; bend, squat, crawl, climb, and reach above shoulder level and twist. Will also be required to use both left and right hands for repetitive action such as grasping, pushing and pulling, and fine manipulating. Continuously: walk and stand. On an occasional basis will be exposed to unprotected heights, dust, fumes, gases and commercial‑strength chemicals, marked changes in temperature/humidity, and around moving machinery. Generally, the job requires 65% walking, 20% standing, and 15% sitting.
Per Trades Agreement 2025‑2028 Section B.1.8 (Filling of Vacant Positions), this position is open to internal district direct transfers for one (1) week‑6/2/26. Interested candidates should submit Custodial Transfer Request Form for this position. If after one week there are no transfer qualified candidates, the district will consider other applicants who have applied for this position.
