Job summary

Burns & McDonnell’s Great Lakes Region seeks a Routing & Siting Project Manager to lead routing studies, NEPA analyses, and environmental permitting for high‑voltage transmission projects. You will manage teams, develop proposals, and support multi-project execution while expanding client relationships and market presence.

Ideal candidates have 7+ years in routing/siting, strong communication skills, and the ability to travel up to 20%.

Qualifications

• B.S. or M.S. in Environmental Science or related field from an accredited program.
• Minimum 7 years of experience leading technical teams, project management, and business development.
• 7+ years of routing/siting studies, NEPA documents, CPCN or energy siting testimony experience preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication with diverse audiences.
• Experience with PJM states or regional regulatory environments preferred.
• Willingness to travel up to 20%.

Responsibilities

• Project management, team leadership, and mentoring of junior staff.
• Prepare routing studies and evaluations for state regulatory applications.
• Prepare NEPA documents, impact analyses, and regulatory permitting materials.
• Conduct pre-application meetings with jurisdictions; prepare land use permits and public outreach materials.
• Develop technical reports related to NEPA compliance and permitting.
• Collaborate with clients, agencies, and staff to prepare environmental documents and studies.
• Develop, cultivate, and strengthen client relationships.
