Job summary

US Foods in Spokane is seeking a route scheduler to plan and sequence deliveries using RoadNet and mainframe systems. You will balance trailer loads, optimize routes for cost and service, and work closely with Sales and Warehouse teams to ensure delivery feasibility.

Daily reporting and system maintenance are essential parts of the role. The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, 2+ years in a related environment, and strong English communication and computer skills.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • 4-6 months of related experience acceptable; 2+ years preferred.
  • Must read, write and communicate in English related to job and safety.
  • Strong computer skills including data entry, report generation and spreadsheet work.
  • Ability to perform basic math and resolve non-routine issues independently.
  • Overtime may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule and sequence routes using designated software.
  • Balance loads per trailer by size/weight of product and pallets.
  • Build cost-effective routes while meeting customer needs.
  • Coordinate delivery feasibility with Sales and Warehouse teams.
  • Prepare daily reports on route changes and requests.

Utilizing specified software, balance loads per trailer by size and weight of product and pallets to be loaded. Build cost effective routes while maintaining customer needs. Work closely with Sales and Warehouse Departments to determine delivery feasibility. Prepare various reports on a daily basis, i.e. route changes request, sequence change requests, new customer request, etc. Maintains routing software system parameters (RoadNet and Mainframe) SUPERVISION : RELATIONSHIPS Internal: Transportation Supervisor and/or Transportation Manager; Sales and Warehouse Dept. associates; Delivery Drivers, Dispatchers, and department clerks. External: Customers. QUALIFICATIONS Education/Training: High School Diploma/GED preferred; Related Experience: A minimum of 2 years in related environment Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Must be able to read, write and communicate in English as it relates to the job and to the safety regulations. Must have computer skills – data entry, general report generation, spreadsheet design, data manipulation, mainframe downloads. Basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply and divide). Possess ability to resolve a variety of issues of fairly non-routine nature with some independence.
