Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; associate degree preferred.
  • 2+ years supervisory experience in operations.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean record; knowledge of safety, USDOT regulations, and OSHA.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise drivers and helpers, monitor performance, provide feedback and issue disciplinary actions.
  • Ensure driver safety training, safety planning, and incident reporting.
  • Conduct morning safety briefings, safety meetings, and audits; launch drivers each morning.
  • Schedule shifts, plan for call-ins/no shows, and report department metrics.
  • Maintain driver qualification files and ensure DOT compliance.
  • Conduct field inspections to ensure safe procedures.
  • Receive and follow up on customer complaints regarding collection programs.
  • Manage route optimization and labor costs.
  • Assist with fleet maintenance and pre/post trip inspections.
  • Participate in regular P&L reviews to ensure budget and operating plans.
  • Ensure DOT/OSHA compliance standards are met.
  • Develop and maintain a best-in-class team and workplace culture; drive performance development.

Position Summary

The Route Manager is responsible for supervising the collection activities for a line of business as well as container delivery and pickup. The position manages drivers and helpers and is responsible for safe and efficient collection operations, customer satisfaction, and upholding company culture. The Route Manager ensures compliance with all safety, ethics, environmental, regulatory, operating, financial, and company performance standards. The position is involved in hiring, training, routing, supervising, coaching and performance of the drivers with primary emphasis on safety and customer service.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with supervising driver and helper, evaluating performance, delivering feedback, and issuing disciplinary actions
  • Responsible for driver and/or helper safety training/coaching, safety planning, and incident reporting
  • Conduct morning safety briefings, safety meetings, and audits and launching drivers each morning
  • Scheduling shifts, planning for call-ins/no shows, and reporting department metrics and performance
  • Maintaining driver qualification files and ensuring compliance with DOT
  • Conducting field inspections and observations to ensure proper and safe work procedures

Requirements
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or GED (accredited) required
  • Associate’s degree (accredited)
  • 2+ years of relevant and supervisory experience.
Qualifications:
  • Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record is required.
  • Demonstrated business acumen, strategic thinking and an ability to execute against formulated strategy
  • Knowledge of safety, USDOT regulations, and OSHA
