Job summary

Texas Disposal Systems is seeking a Route Helper to assist the Residential Driver in running routes efficiently, productively, and safely while complying with trucking and waste regulations. You will provide courteous, professional service to customers and help ensure on-time pickups.

The role requires punctuality, ability to work with minimal supervision, basic math, and good communication. Weekend and holiday shifts are required; training provided.

Qualifications

• Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Basic math skills required for route calculations.
• Verbal and written fluency in English.
• Demonstrate at least minimal computer aptitude.

Responsibilities

• Report to work on time in proper uniform with required PPE.
• Know and understand driving hand signals.
• Assist in examining route sheets and identifying new or off-route stops.
• Assist driver by reading notes from supervisor/dispatch and discussing the day’s route.
• Assist in collecting the route as sequenced on the route sheet and log any changes.
• Keep the truck clean and well-maintained before leaving the facility.
• Work safely and professionally, and be available for weekend/holiday shifts.
• Other duties as assigned.

JOB SUMMARY

A Route Helper assists the Residential Driver with ensuring the route is run efficiently, productively, and safely and in compliance with applicable governmental regulations pertaining to trucking and waste operations. This position will provide courteous, professional service to all customers.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Report to work at designated times in proper company uniform and with required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Know and understand driving hand signals.
• Assist in examining route sheets, identifying new stops and stops not on route.
• Assist driver with reading notes from Residential Supervisor or Dispatch and discuss the day’s route as needed.
• Assist in the collection of the route as sequenced on the route sheet and/or fleet routing software, noting sequencing problems or changes and recording them on fleet routing software.
• Ensure the truck is clean and well-maintained before leaving the TDS facility.
• Work productively and safely and behave courteously and professionally.
• Must be available for shifts scheduled on weekends and holidays.
• Other duties as assigned.
