Job summary

Darling Ingredients seeks a Route Driver to operate semi-trucks or vacuum trucks for collection of animal mortalities, fat and bone, or grease from customer sites. Responsibilities vary by plant location and include safety, paperwork, and maintaining equipment.

The role requires a CDL A with tanker endorsements, a clean MVR, and the ability to manage electronic DOT logs. Regular travel, nights and weekends may be required, with strong emphasis on safety and customer service.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Must be at least 21 years old with a clean Motor Vehicle Record.
  • CDL A license with tanker endorsements is required.
  • Must be registered on the FMCSA Clearinghouse.
  • Strong computer and basic math skills are desirable.
  • Prior route experience in a customer-oriented environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Collects and inspects raw material at pick up for hazards at customer locations.
  • May pump or load grease containers depending on plant location; ensure cleanliness and proper handling.
  • Maintain electronic DOT log.
  • Provide customers with receipts and obtain signatures.
  • Operate and maintain company vehicle in safe, compliant manner; follow regulations.
  • Perform safety checks and inspections and follow company safety rules.
  • Complete daily vehicle condition reports and route tickets.
  • Maintain excellent customer relations with professional service at all times.
  • Complete all required paperwork (route tickets, VIRs, accident reports, mileage logs) daily.
  • Execute the established route as assigned and attend safety meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education

High school diploma or GED
21+ years old with clean MVR
Must be registered on FMCSA DOT Clearinghouse
Strong computer and basic math skills
Experience with truck hydraulics (a plus)
Team player; flexible hours (nights/weekends as needed)
Prior route experience in customer-facing environment (preferred)

Minimum Qualifications

  • Knowledge of safe operation of a commercial motor vehicle and general maintenance
  • Experience with truck hydraulics is a plus
  • Strong computer and basic math skills.
