Job summary

Airgas, a leading U.S. supplier of industrial, medical and specialty gases, seeks a Route Driver in Athens, GA. Deliver compressed gas cylinders to local and regional customers from an Airgas branch or plant, loading/unloading cylinders and ensuring safe handling and on-time deliveries.

Qualified candidates have CDL A/B with HazMat, Airbrake endorsements, a clean driving record, ability to lift heavy loads, and a customer-focused approach to support reliable service and safety.

Qualifications

• Valid Class A or B CDL with HazMat (or able to obtain within 60 days) and Airbrake endorsements.
• Maintain a valid driver's license, medical card and endorsements.
• No more than two traffic convictions or one conviction and one at-fault accident in the last 3 years.
• No DUI in the last seven years.
• Must work in a drug-free environment.
• Be able to lift 75 lbs and move more than 125 lbs with equipment.
• 1 year of CDL driving experience in the last 5 years or proof of trucking school completion in the last 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Load and unload the truck daily with gas cylinders & supplies.
• Nurture courteous and professional relationships with customers.
• Support deliveries in a timely manner.
• Safely secure and unsecure cylinders.
• Complete deliveries on customer sites using a hand cart; physically active role.

As a key representative of Airgas, the delivery driver contributes to the safe and efficient delivery of compressed gas cylinders to local and regional business customers from an Airgas branch or plant location using a company provided CDL B vehicle. This position involves loading, unloading, and returning compressed gas cylinders while frequently connecting with Airgas customers.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Class A or B CDL with HAZMAT (or able to obtain within 60 days from hire date) & Airbrake endorsements
• Maintain appropriate driver's license, medical card & endorsements
• No more than two (2) traffic convictions: OR two (2) at-fault accident in the last 3 years; or no more than a combination of one (1) traffic conviction and one (1) at-fault accident in the last 3 years
• No driving while under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance within the last seven (7) years
• Must be able to work in a drug-free environment
• Be able to regularly lift 75lbs and move more than 125lbs with the aid of material handling equipment
• Must have 1 year of CDL driving experience in the last 5 years or be able able to provide proof of a certificate of completion from trucking school completed in the last 12 months.
