Job summary

The Salvation Army Southern California is seeking a Production Assistant 2 – Class A in Bakersfield, CA. This non-exempt role pays $25.00 per hour and reports to the Transportation Supervisor.

You will responsibly load/unload donations, follow routing directions, and ensure safety and compliance with DOT regulations. Qualifications include a High School diploma or equivalent, valid Class A license, clean driving record, and strong time management and communication skills.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Valid CLASS A driver's license.
• Clean driving record.
• Strong time management and customer service skills.
• Ability to operate electronic equipment used for daily route information.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Follow daily routing directions and avoid deviations unless directed by the Transportation Supervisor.
• Ensure routes are 100% completed each day within the approved schedule.
• Safely load and unload the assigned truck; assist with others as needed.
• Handle all donated material with proper safety procedures.
• Train, instruct and supervise truck helper in their tasks and safety practices.
• Complete all pre- and post-checks daily and report any exceptions.
• Provide courteous customer service and report donor problems to supervisor.
• Report accidents and maintain safe driving records per DOT/state laws.
• Comply with meal/rest break policies and other duties as assigned.
