CFD Research Corporation in Huntsville, AL seeks a Rotorcraft Flight Controls and Handling Qualities Engineer to develop and improve flight control systems for legacy and future VTOL aircraft, using MATLAB/Simulink and CONDUIT. The role supports Army rotorcraft programs and flight test activities, with opportunities to influence control laws and simulations.

The position requires aerospace/ mechanical engineering background, 2+ years in flight control, and US citizenship with DoD clearance

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university.
• 2 years or more experience in flight control design.
• Experience with MATLAB and Simulink.
• U.S. Citizen and ability to obtain DoD Secret security clearance.
• Travel up to 10% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain flight control systems for VTOL aircraft (manned and unmanned).
• Collaborate with Army engineers and managers on control design.
• Support FLRAA program design reviews and flight control issues.
• Prototype and optimize flight controls using CONDUIT and CIFER tools.
• Communicate research results through technical presentations and reports.
