Job description

Rotor Wing Pilot, Air Medical | Life Link III

This search is being run by Aviation Search Group in partnership with Life Link III.

Fly a mission that matters, for a program that treats you like it does.

Life Link III is a premier, nationally recognized air medical transport organization known for clinical excellence, a superior aviation program, and reliable response when critically ill and injured patients need it most. They are adding experienced rotor wing pilots at three bases across the Northwoods of Minnesota and Wisconsin, and Aviation Search Group has partnered with them to find the right people.

If you are a helicopter pilot who wants your flying to mean something, and you’re ready to be part of an organization instead of an outsourced line item, this is worth a conversation. Candidates should live in the region or be willing to relocate to it.

Open base locations:
  • Hibbing, MN: On Minnesota’s Iron Range, about two hours from Duluth, with year-round outdoor recreation in every direction. Eligible for up to $45,000 in retention bonuses.
  • Alexandria, MN: Lake country charm, a growing regional economy, and a tight-knit small town community, about two hours from both the Twin Cities and Fargo Moorhead.
  • Rhinelander, WI: Surrounded by forests and lakes, a real haven for hunting, fishing, and life outdoors, with a close and welcoming community. Eligible for up to $45,000 in retention bonuses.
Why pilots are making the move to Life Link III
  • You are part of the team, not a vendor. Life Link III owns and operates its own aviation program under its own certificate. Pilots are direct employees and full members of an elite air medical team, flying alongside clinical crews they know by name.
  • Modern, uniform equipment. You’ll fly an all Leonardo AW119 fleet, so you stay sharp and current on one platform across the entire program.
  • Safety is the culture, not a poster on the wall. Life Link III has never had an accident, and every decision is built around keeping it that way, supported by a mature Safety Management System and disciplined Crew Resource Management.
  • A schedule that gives you your life back. 7 on / 7 off schedule on 12-hour shifts means half the year is yours.
  • The mission is real. Every flight is a direct chance to give a rural patient their best shot at the best possible outcome.
  • They invest in you. Fully vested 401k match, HSA match, tuition and training reimbursement, and company aircraft time to help you earn your ATP.
Your impact
  • Serve as pilot in command and own the safety of every passenger, crew member, and flight you accept
  • Communicate and collaborate closely with flight crews, dispatch, and partners
  • Share your flight knowledge and serve as a resource on transport and flight operations
  • Follow all FAA regulations, manuals, and company procedures, and complete flight documentation accurately and on time
  • Supervise aircraft loading and refueling, and ensure safe weight and balance
  • Apply strong Crew Resource Management and participate actively in the Life Link III Safety Management System
  • Stay ahead of NOTAMs, TFRs, and weather, and maintain all qualifications required under the CFRs
  • Pursue your own professional growth while supporting the development of those around you
Requirements
  • FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate and Instrument Rating
  • Current FAA Class I or II medical certificate
  • 2,000 total flight hours, or meets CAMTS equivalency
  • 1,500 helicopter flight hours
  • 1,000 hours pilot in command in category
  • 500 hours turbine rotorcraft
  • 200 hours cross country
  • 50 hours of aided (NVG) night, or 100 hours of unaided night in lieu
What Life Link III offers
  • Base pay of $54.06 to $74.83 per hour, based on experience, on a 7 on 7 off, 12-hour schedule
  • Up to $45,000 in retention bonuses over three years at the Hibbing and Rhinelander bases ($10,000 in year one, $15,000 in year two, $20,000 in year three)
  • Health, dental, and vision coverage starting the first of the month after your hire date
  • Health Savings Account with employer match
  • 401k with employer match, fully vested
  • Generous paid leave and PTO built around work and life balance
