Job description

Job Purpose
The Rotational Staff Dentist provides a range of clinical and administrative services, working closely with the Lead Dentist on all clinical matters. They provide treatment at various mobile clinic sites, either independently with other rotational staff or with a regional clinical team. The dentist may also serve as a provider at rural clinic sites and for special clinical screenings and projects. Additionally, they act as an extra provider and substitute for other dentists as needed.

Dental Program
The St. David's Dental Program focuses on delivering dental services to children at Title 1 elementary schools and summer clinical sites within five Central Texas counties, reaching patients who might not otherwise receive dental care. The program operates eight hours a day, five days a week, with each mobile dental van staffed by a dedicated team. The vans are equipped with two exam rooms, digital x-rays, and computer workstations, traveling to various locations to maximize patient care and operational efficiency.

Required Qualifications

  • DDS or DMD degree from an accredited dental school.
  • Current license to practice dentistry in Texas.
  • Minimum of one year of experience as a licensed Dentist.
  • Current Controlled Substances Registration Certification from the DEA.
  • Knowledge of pediatric dentistry standards, practices, and procedures.
  • Passion for working with children and in public health.
  • Demonstrated clinical leadership skills.
  • CPR, OSHA, Infection Control, and X-Ray certifications.
  • Reliable transportation for travel within five Central Texas counties.
  • Computer proficiency and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • At least one year of experience in a mobile dental program.
  • Experience treating pediatric patients.
  • Experience working in rural clinic settings.
