Rotational Security Officer - FedEx 1 week on x 1 week off - Anchorage

The Security Officer provides services for a variety of large and small business clients where health, safety, and security is our #1 priority. This is a public environment at the FedEx Shipping Center and surrounding areas with the corresponding levels of traffic (employees, visitors, customers, etc.).

The schedule for this position is a rotational one (1) week on / one (1) week off schedule. The work week is Monday-Sunday, 12 hours a day working either 6:00am-6:00pm or 6:00pm-6:00am.

Responsibilities
  1. Personally monitors either visually, electronically or audibly a variety of assigned areas or grounds by working in a variety of assignments including but not limited to roving inside the facilities, roving in a vehicle, and other locations deemed appropriate.
  2. Ensures own actions and those of others observe maximum level of safety and compliance.
  3. Will verbally de-escalate situations to ensure the safety of fellow employees, customers, and clients.
  4. Examines doors, windows, and other areas of the store to determine they are secure.
  5. Reports and records data such as property damage and unusual occurrences in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  6. Warns violators of rule infractions and may apprehend or expel violators.
  7. Notifies on-site individuals of visitors wishing to see them.
  8. Assists in properly responding to a variety of emergencies or disasters in order to preserve life and property, including but not limited to fire safety and active shooter protocol.
  9. May perform routine input or monitoring of safety and life support computer programs.
  10. May issue and record ID badges.
  11. May check heating, lighting, security, ventilation, fire, etc., systems to make sure they are operational.
  12. Notify supervisor if safety and sanitation standards are not being met.
  13. This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
  14. Other duties that are pertinent to the department or unit's success may also be assigned.
Qualifications
  1. High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  2. At least two (2) years of security, law enforcement, or military experience.
  3. A valid Driver's License and an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under NMS' vehicle insurance policy.
  4. Must pass a background check to obtain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge.
  5. Must be able to obtain and pay the Alaska Guard License fee of $98.25 prior to beginning work.
  6. Must be able to cooperate and work as part of a team with fellow employees, customers, and clients.
  7. Must be able to make decisions in the moment with little to no supervision.
  8. Must be able to be on your feet for 12 hours per shift for the scheduled rotation.
  9. Contract requires employees to speak, understand, read, and write English.
  10. Must be safety-oriented as this is a safety-sensitive position.
  11. Must meet and adhere to all safety guidelines and regulations set forth by the company and client.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
  1. Weather: Indoor/Outdoor. Frequently exposed to arctic conditions.
  2. Noise level: Moderate to Loud.
  3. Description of environment: This is a public aviation facility.
  4. Must constantly be able to stand, walk, climb, push, pull, use hands and arms, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
  5. Physical requirements: Must be able to lift and move up to 50lbs. Must be able to work a rotational week on/week off schedule with 12-hour shifts.
