Job summary

Toshiba America Energy Systems Corporation (TAES) seeks a Rotational Development Engineer in West Allis, WI. This entry-level program spans Turbine Engineering, Project Management, Manufacturing Engineering, and Field Engineering over about one year.

You will gain hands-on experience with steam turbine and generator service, repair, and customer projects, while developing technical, communication, and problem-solving skills for a permanent role.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree completed by the employment start date in a relevant engineering/operational discipline.
  • No prior full-time engineering experience required.
  • Internship/co-op/related technical experience preferred.
  • Mechanical and/or electrical aptitude.
  • Technical writing and documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Complete four functional rotations in Turbine Engineering, Project Management, Manufacturing Engineering, and Field Engineering over ~12 months.
  • Support planning and execution of steam turbine and generator service, repair, and refurbishment projects.
  • Learn and apply project workflows related to scheduling, budgeting, risk management, documentation, and customer coordination.
  • Assist with inspection planning, technical evaluation, troubleshooting, testing, repair development, and technical documentation.
  • Work with engineering personnel to ensure technical decisions support safe, high-quality project execution.
  • Support shop-based repair and refurbishment activities and learn manufacturing, assembly, maintenance, and quality assurance processes.
  • Build knowledge of turbine and generator components, tools, repair techniques, and quality requirements.
  • Participate in customer-site outages and support field execution, documentation, and team communication.

Position Summary

We are seeking a Rotational Development Engineer candidate to be based out of our West Allis, WI location. This is an entry-level role designed for graduating seniors and recent college graduates who want broad, hands-on exposure to the power generation industry. Over approximately one year, the employee rotates through Turbine Engineering, Project Management, Manufacturing Engineering, and Field Engineering to learn how steam turbine and generator service, repair, and customer projects move from planning through execution. The employee supports technical evaluations, project coordination, shop activities, and field outage work while building practical engineering, communication, and problem-solving skills. After successful completion of the program, the employee transitions to a permanent position based on business needs, demonstrated strengths, performance, fit, and available opportunities.

  • Assist with inspection planning, technical evaluation, troubleshooting, testing, repair development, and technical documentation.
  • Work with engineering personnel to understand how technical decisions support safe, high-quality, and commercially effective project execution.
  • Support shop-based repair and refurbishment activities and learn manufacturing, assembly, maintenance, and quality assurance processes.
  • Build practical knowledge of turbine and generator components, tools, repair techniques, productivity expectations, and quality requirements.
  • Participate in a customer-site outage and support field execution, work sequencing, field documentation, shift coverage, and team communication.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Project Management, Shop Operations, Field Support, Commercial, Quality, and customer-facing teams.
  • Prepare clear technical notes, reports, updates, and other documentation for assigned work.
  • Follow all safety, environmental, health, quality, security, and site-specific requirements.
  • Adapt to changing assignments, work schedules, priorities, and business needs throughout the program.
  • Demonstrate learning, accountability, teamwork, and professional conduct during each rotation.
Education and Required Experience
  • Bachelor of Science degree completed by the employment start date in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related technical or operational discipline.
  • No prior full-time engineering experience required.
  • Internship, co-op, laboratory, capstone, shop, field, manufacturing, project, or other related technical experience preferred.

The employee must be able to lift up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Distance vision and Ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to walk. The employee is occasionally required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.

The majority of this work takes place in an office and the work environment is that of a typical office environment in a manufacturing setting where noise levels are usually moderate. Frequently the employee will interact with personnel in the plant where he/she may be exposed to higher noise levels.
