Job summary

Lear Corporation's Controls Rotational Program offers four rotations to build programming experience and automation knowledge within a production environment. You will collaborate with plant personnel across Quality, Engineering, and Operations while advancing a small project from concept to runoff and developing leadership skills.

Participants will experience hands-on automation, gain exposure to PLCs, sensors, and vision systems, and contribute ideas to improve the Vision team.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechatronics, Controls, Electrical or Software Engineering.
  • Self-starter, team player and positive attitude.
  • Creative thinker with results orientation, attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Knowledgeable of I/O link, AB components, drive control, Keyence cameras.
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Understand and communicate applicable safety standards: general industry, machine guarding, robot safety, automated vehicles, conveyor safety.
  • Willingness to work long hours during installations, if required.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and effectively support all plant controls.
  • Gain programming experience with PLC A/B Controllers, Keyence IV sensors, Cognex Vision, and LPS understanding.
  • Collaborate with Quality, Engineering, & Operations on projects.
  • Develop and implement three Vision Solution projects from start to finish.
  • Present three ideas to benefit the Vision team and promote growth.
  • Understand differences between control schemes on Build-lines and Ship-lines.
  • Lead small projects from concept to runoff/support (design, build, debug, runoff).
  • Attend and contribute to Electrical Team meetings.
  • Present new and evolved technologies to the team.
  • Explore principles for successful automation, including project planning and execution.
  • Improve communication with integrators and plants.
  • Develop new automation solutions and understand equipment uptime.
  • Write shift reports and communicate with other teams and shifts.
  • Manage stressful situations while providing solutions.
