Job Overview

This position specializes in the design of Engineered to Order (ETO) Rotary Air Compressors, focusing on control and electrical systems. The role includes primary ownership of electrical and control systems design, selection of air, lube oil systems, sheet metal enclosures, and structural skids. Responsibilities entail accurate completion of drawings and bill of materials, ensuring electrical BOM accuracy, compliance, and integration. The engineer will support other departments with electrical design expertise to meet project deadlines and quality standards.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as project engineer and technical reference for custom orders.
  • Act as the primary electrical engineering resource for ETO compressor designs.
  • Provide electrical design guidance, review, and mentoring to fellow ETO engineers.
  • Interpret project scope documents and translate them into compressor technical requirements.
  • Create new or revise existing drawings and bill of materials to meet specific order requirements.
  • Perform design analysis and calculations with accuracy, following good engineering practices and developing practical solutions.
  • Identify multiple solutions, perform trade‑off studies, and select optimum solutions.
  • Coordinate the completion of 2D & 3D technical drawings including Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams, Electrical Schematics, and General Arrangement drawings.
  • Provide engineering support of assigned projects from order receipt through shipment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues and challenges.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE).
  • 4+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience.
  • Knowledge of NFPA 70/79 and electrical design standards.
Core Competencies
  • Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Industrial experience in electro‑mechanical machine design and manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with design of motor control systems.
  • Experience with motors, heat exchangers, pumps, valves, instrumentation, electrical controls, power distribution & piping design.
  • Experience creating and maintaining bill of materials through an ERP system.
  • Experience with an Engineering Change system/process.
  • Experience with drawing/ technical document management.
  • Experience with Creo, Windchill & Oracle (a plus).
Preferences
  • Experience with CAD tools (Creo preferred).
  • Familiarity with Windchill, Oracle, or similar systems.
  • Experience with motor control systems, power distribution, and instrumentation.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems and engineering change processes.
  • Experience working with global or cross‑functional engineering teams.
Travel & Work Arrangements/Requirements
  • Position is based onsite in Mocksville, NC with standard working hours Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM. Limited travel is expected.
