About The Employer

The Merced County Office of Education assists Merced County’s 20 school districts through support and oversight of curriculum and instruction, alternative education, business services, early education, technology, migrant education, special education, and teacher credentialing. MCOE is led by the elected Merced County Superintendent of Schools and governed by the Merced County Board of Education. While serving as a focal point to facilitate local school/government/community partnerships, MCOE is responsible for the fiscal oversight of each school district in Merced County, hears appeals for student expulsion hearings and interdistrict transfers and operates Green Meadows Outdoor School.

Job Summary

Under the administrative direction of the Administrator, Educational Services/Regional Occupation Program will provide instruction and training realistic in terms of current and future work specifications in a classroom setting and through community classroom/work experience to prepare grant eligible students for employment in the career field required. Responsible for curriculum and program development, student performance objectives and evaluation. Responsible for developing community sites for student internships. Provides creative leadership within student groups, school personnel and the public sector. This position is included in the certificated bargaining unit and is subject to terms of the union agreement regarding membership, payment of like fee, or donation to recognized charity.

Education: High school diploma or recognized equivalent. Credentials & Requirements: Hold/qualify for a valid CA Designated Subjects Career Technical Education Credential in the subject to be taught, including skills appropriate to the career field are required. Valid California Driver’s License. Minimum liability insurance required by law. DMV Driver Record printout required. Experience: Three (3) years of work experience in the required career field are required. One (1) of the three (3) years of the required experience must be within the last five (5) years, or two (2) years within the last ten (10) years. MUST HAVE CULINARY EXPERIENCE AS THIS IS FOR THE CULINARY ESSENTIALS PROGRAM.

  • Verification of Work Experience: Information for Obtaining Verification of Work Experience To qualify for a Career Technical Education credential (or non-academic Adult credential based on experience), Title 5 Regulations require verification of three years of work experience or its equivalent related to each subject to be named on the credential. Additionally, for the Career Technical Education credential; Three (3) years of work experience in the technical skills area to be taught are required. One (1) of the three (3) years of the required work experience must be within the last five (5) years, or two (2) years within the last ten (10) years. Verification of work experience means confirmation of the applicant’s qualifying experience, an original letter, signed by the applicant’s past or present employer(s) on company letterhead that attests to and includes all of the following: 1) Employer's name, address and telephone number; 2) Beginning and ending dates of employment; 3) Complete description of duties; 4) A statement as to whether or not the employment was full-time. If employment was less than full-time, the statement must include an accounting of the number of hours the applicant was employed; and 5) The working relationship of the person signing the verification to the applicant. ** Any letter not containing all of the above information will not be able to be used – a new, complete letter will be required before the application process can begin. ** Additional Information for Self-Employed Individuals When the applicant is self-employed, or the experience is vocational, written verification shall be made by the applicant, signed under penalty of perjury, detailing the information described in 1) through 4) above, AND must be further substantiated, in writing, by other person(s) having first-hand knowledge of the applicant’s self‑employment or avocation, such as the applicant’s accountant, major supplier of goods, or major user of goods or services.
