Job Summary

Responsible for preparation, assembly, and delivery of patient meal trays, guest trays and snacks to the bedside. Assist with meal tray set up and soiled tray removal from patient rooms and designated soiled utility closets. General cleaning and stocking as assigned. Follows and implements HACCP guidelines. Complies with regulatory agency requirements.

Essential Functions:

  • Deliver patient trays to the bedside and assist with meal set-up, including but not limited to opening cartons, containers, and packets, cutting food items, and spreading condiments. (50%)
  • Participates in postmeal cleanup tasks as assigned or directed, including sweeping, mopping, and working in the dishroom or potroom as needed.
    (30%)
  • Assist Cooks and kitchen staff with various tasks as needed and provide cooks with needed items. (10%)
  • Provide prompt service recovery when there is an error with the patient's meal or missing items and involve a manager or supervisor in escalated situations. (10%)

Licenses:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of food preparation techniques
  • Knowledge of safety hazards and necessary safety precautions sufficient to be able to establish a safe work environment.
  • Knowledge of chemicals and equipment used to clean surface areas sufficient to be able to maintain a clean and orderly work area.
  • Skill in understanding and following oral, illustrated, written or demonstrated instructions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively
