Are you ready to be a part of our Teen Academy?

The Teen Academy program is a summer work + internship initiative that began in 2016 at the IHG Army Hotel in Joint Force Base San Antonio. In 2017, other IHG Army Hotels joined, leading to a portfolio-wide program.

At Intercontinental Hotels Group, we own, operate, and franchise over 3,500 hotels, offering nearly half a million guest rooms across nearly 100 countries. By bringing your passion and expertise, you will help us achieve our vision: to be the world's preferred, admired, and successful hotel company.

Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities
  1. Provide teens with skills development and real hotel work experience.
  2. Help develop a strong work ethic while offering a rewarding summer experience.
  3. Promote strong family values and demonstrate IHG’s Winning Ways, emphasizing true hospitality and a healthy lifestyle.
  4. Build appreciation for hardworking parents and relatives supporting the family.

The program lasts 10 weeks, with duration possibly varying based on local school schedules. It occurs during summer months when school is out, with teens working no more than 40 hours per week, typically between 0800 and 1600 hours.

Candidate Requirements
  • Age 14 to 16, compliant with federal and state labor laws.
  • Willing to learn various job duties including Houseperson, Housekeeping, Laundry, and Breakfast Attendant.
  • Must have transportation and access to the post.
  • Family member must be employed at the hotel; the sponsoring employee must have no active Corrective Actions.
  • Participation involves interviews with the GM, HM, OM, and HR Manager, and signing necessary agreements and providing legal work authorization documents.
  • If the sponsor is not a parent or guardian, parental/guardian consent and documentation are required.
