The Houseperson plays an essential role in the housekeeping department. They assist the room attendants by stripping rooms and removing soiled linen and trash. They also assist the room attendants by ensuring the storage closets are stocked with linen, terry, chemicals, and necessary guest supplies.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Approach all encounters with guests and team members in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Callaway standards, as required by scheduling.
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming which includes appropriate uniform and nametag when working.
  • Comply at all times with Callaway standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient operations.
  • Collect trash and dirty linen and deliver to soiled linen pickup area and dumpsters.
  • Deliver clean linen to guest room attendants and linen closets.
  • Deliver all extra supplies to linen closets.
  • Clean dirty mugs and glasses in the housekeeping storage rooms.
  • Ensure all equipment is in working order and all supplies are up to standard; report equipment that needs repair or supplies that need to be ordered.
  • Clean ceilings, move heavy furniture, and deep clean carpets as assigned.
  • Turn in all Lost & Found items following the standard procedures.
  • Be familiar with the operating procedures of all other areas of the hotel, cooperating fully and in a friendly manner with those areas to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Ensure areas are free of safety hazards and perform all duties in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Be a Team Player and encourage team spirit among staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or management.
  • Attend all meetings/training as required by supervisor or manager.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Previous cleaning experience preferred.
  • Previous customer service experience, preferably in a hotel or related establishment preferred.
  • Strong communication skills - the ability to speak, read, and write in the English Language

Physical Requirements

  • The ability to lift, pull, and push moderate weight (minimum of 30 lbs.)

  • Be able to positively motivate and lead a team, conveying information and ideas clearly and effectively so that ownership of high levels of guest service is understood to be the role of each individual team member.
  • Be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately
  • Be able to work well in high-pressure situations while maintaining composure and objectivity, including the ability to listen carefully to and resolve guest issues to the satisfaction of the affected guests.
  • Be able to identify potential guest issues and then develop methodologies to prevent or limit the impact of those guest issues during the course of guest visits.
  • Be able to assimilate complex information and data for various sources and consider, adjust or modify to meet the constraints of the particular need.
  • Be able to effectively listen to, understand, and clarify concerns and issues raised by team members and guests.
  • Be able to work with and understand financial information and data and perform basic math functions.
  • Identification verifying you are at least 18 years of age
  • The ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays
  • The ability to lift, pull, and push moderate weight (minimum of 30 lbs.)
  • The desire to satisfy the needs of others in a fast-paced environment.
  • The ability and desire to work independently with little supervision.
