Job summary

Aloft Silicon Valley is seeking a Room Attendant to keep guest rooms clean and orderly, upholding brand standards while delivering a friendly guest experience. Training is provided, and no prior experience is required.

Shifts generally start between 8:00 AM and 9:00 AM. Pay ranges from $17.46 to $18.50 per hour, with benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), disability and life insurance, flexible schedule, paid time off, and hotel room discounts.

Qualifications

• No formal education required.
• Housekeeping experience, hotel or residential, is a plus but not required.
• Ability to follow instructions and directions, meet deadlines, and work with limited supervision.
• Ability to scrub and scour surfaces, extend arms overhead, and work in confined spaces.
• Ability to read and understand safety labels and instructions, and to communicate with guests and teammates.
• Attention to detail, good time management, and a team attitude.
• Regular, dependable attendance, as scheduled shifts are essential to the operation of the hotel.

Responsibilities

• Clean and prepare assigned guest rooms to hotel standards. A typical assignment is about 14 rooms per shift.
• Clean the bathtub, toilet, sink, walls, mirrors, tile, counters, and floors using cloths, mops, sponges, brushes, and cleaning agents, following all sanitation and safety procedures.
• Strip and make beds and change linens, which may involve lifting bedspreads weighing up to 40 pounds.
• Dust all furniture, pictures, drawers, window ledges, and shelves, and vacuum carpets.
• Replenish amenities, linens, and supplies in the guest room.
• Stock, maintain, and transport the housekeeping cart daily, and dispose of trash and recyclables in designated areas.
• Respond promptly and courteously to guest requests, such as an iron, directions, or other information.
• Report suspicious persons or activity, hazardous conditions, and maintenance issues to Safety and Security or a supervisor, and give basic guidance to guests and employees in fire or other emergencies.
• Turn in all items found in your work area to the hotel Lost and Found.
• Update room status on the assignment sheet and keep assigned room keys secure.
• Assist other Room Attendants or the Houseperson when requested, and perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands

Must be able, with or without reasonable accommodation, to stand and walk for an 8 hour shift, and to frequently bend, stoop, walk, and lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds. Must be able to push or pull equipment weighing up to 100 pounds.

Working Conditions and Schedule

Shifts generally start between 8:00 AM and 9:00 AM. Because hotels operate every day, work schedules include holidays, weekends, and alternate shifts, with occasional overtime.
