The Cambria Hotel in Detroit is expanding and looking for Rooftop Hosts to join our team!

Job Summary

The Host/Hostess role is very critical. They are the first and the last person that the guest will encounter and set a tone for the rest of their dining experience. A Host/Hostess duties primary focus on ensuring that guests have a positive experience as soon as they enter the restaurant. Please note – this is a seasonal position. This position will be staffed from early spring through early autumn.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Greet incoming guests when they enter and exit the restaurant and acknowledge each guest by name.
  • Take reservations.
  • Answer incoming phone calls.
  • Seat guest.
  • Assist servers.
  • Serve food. (If required)
  • Regularly check cleanliness of restrooms.
  • Observe and report any potential issues in the bar and restaurant area to management.
  • Assist customers with any difficulties or escalating problems to management.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • The ideal candidate for this position must be extremely friendly, outgoing, and organized.
  • Positive attitude and interpersonal skills
  • Good communication skills and phone etiquette
  • Flexibility when working alternating shifts.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills including dealing with difficult and rude patrons.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with local areas with the ability to provide directions and maps to local attractions and destinations.

Education And Experience

  • High School Diploma or Ged preferred.
  • Prior Restaurant experience preferred.
  • Prior Hosting Experience preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods standing and walking and frequently pulling, pushing, and bending.
  • Must be able to lift fifty pounds at a time.
  • Requires standing for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to traverse all parts of the restaurant quickly.
