Job summary

The Barnett Hotel is seeking an experienced bartender to join our rooftop and lobby bar team. Prepare beverages per standards, manage guest flow, and keep the bar area clean and organized.

Ideal candidates will have 1+ years bartending experience, strong English communication, and the ability to handle payments and inventory. Flexible scheduling and OSHA safety awareness are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year experience as a bartender.
• Minimum 2 years experience in a fast-paced bar/restaurant.
• Bartending certifications (if applicable) required; ServSafe/TiPS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare cocktails and drink orders according to standards and recipes.
• Handle beverage payments in accordance with procedures.
• Check guest IDs to ensure legal age.
• Input orders into POS system and maintain accuracy.
• Maintain positive guest relations and knowledge of menu items.
• Manage liquor, wine, beer inventory and bar supplies.
• Perform sidework as needed.

The Barnett Hotel features High-Five Pool Bar a 9th-floor rooftop garden. Open daily (weather permitting), our rooftop space invites guests to cozy up to the firepits and dine on tasty small plates while sipping seasonal cocktails, all with panoramic city views as a backdrop.

We are looking for an experienced bartender to join our team.

SUMMARY

Prepare beverage orders in accordance with The Barnett Hotel, Rooftop Bar and Lobby Bar according to standards and recipes. Manage flow of guests in and around bar area. Keep bar clean and organized.

CORE FOCUS & ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Qualified candidates must be able to satisfactorily complete the following responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned.

• Prepare cocktails and other drink orders to guests’ specifications while maintaining The Barnett Hotel quality standards.
• Handle payment for beverage purchases in compliance with HRI and cash handling procedures.
• Properly check all guests’ identification to ensure legal age compliance.
• Properly input guest orders through the POS system.
• Maintain positive guest relations at all times.
• Maintain current and accurate knowledge of the menu offerings.
• Manage inventory for liquor, wine, beer, and other beverage ingredients.
• Perform sidework as needed.

REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Minimum 1 year previous experience as a bartender. Minimum 2 years previous experience in a fast-paced bar and/or restaurant. Additional hotel and/or restaurant experience preferred. Must have any legally required bartending certifications, if applicable. Additional certifications (ServSafe, TiPS, etc.) preferred.

Candidate must meet the following cognitive abilities:

• Ability to understand guests’ service needs & requests.
• Ability to acknowledge guests’ requests in a polite manner.
• Ability to clearly communicate in verbal and written English (additional foreign languages are encouraged and preferred).
• Ability to apply logical thinking and understanding to carry out written and oral instructions.
• Ability to address and solve problems involving guest and operational issues.
• Ability to compute basic mathematical calculations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The typical environment is a bar atmosphere with ambient room temperatures, ambient lighting, and common bar equipment. Lift / carry 25lbs (frequently) and 50lbs (occasionally) Bend, squat, crawl, and reach above shoulder level.
