Job summary

McRae Roofing, Inc is seeking a Laborer to support roof crews on commercial projects. You will help prepare job sites, move materials, and assist with installation under the direction of foremen.

No prior roofing experience is required; on-the-job training is provided. Candidates should be dependable, safety-minded, and able to perform physical tasks in various weather conditions.

Weekly pay and a structured advancement plan are offered to help you grow within the company.

Qualifications

• High School/G.E.D preferred but not required.
• General construction experience preferred.
• Driver license not required but preferred.
• Willing to submit to a 10-panel drug test.
• Must be self-motivated, open-minded, and able to accept constructive criticism.

Responsibilities

• Assist with site preparation and clean-up per Foreman instructions.
• Help install vapor barriers and insulation on roof decks.
• Assist with covering roofs and exterior walls with various materials.
• Operate vehicles or mechanized devices as needed.
• Identify problems and communicate them to foreman for action.

Summary

Assist Roofers and Foremen with preparing the job site and covering roofs with materials such as metal, shingles, single-ply systems (TPO, PVC, and EPDM), slate, asphalt, aluminum, wood, and related materials. May operate hand and power tools of all types.

• Knowledge of basic safety techniques and procedures

Essential Functions

Listen, comprehend, and follow-thru with instructions given by Foreman or persons in charge.

• Clean up debris from the roof surface and surrounding property
• Assist with the installation of vapor barriers and/or layers of insulation on the roof decks
• Assist with the installation of partially overlapping layers of material over roof insulation surfaces
• Assist with covering roofs and exterior walls of structures with metal, single-ply systems, slate, asphalt, aluminum, wood, gravel, gypsum, and/or related materials, using brushes, knives, punches, hammers, and other tools
• Operating vehicles, mechanized devices, or equipment
• Repair cracks, defects, or damage, using proper materials
• Apply adhesives, caulking, sealants, or coatings
• Must be able to meet the physical demands of the job

Physical Demands

• Requires standing up for long periods of time
• Requires use of ladders, scaffolds, and stairways
• Requires ability to climb to heights above 10 feet.
• Requires seeing details at close range
• Requires repetitive movement, bending or twisting, kneeling, crouching, stooping or crawling
• Requires ability to stand, walk, lift, and carry items weighing 50 pounds regularly

Work Environment

• Requires working in extremely bright or inadequate lighting conditions, in very hot (above 90 F degrees) or very cold (below 32 F degrees) temperatures, including exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable
• Includes exposure to contaminants, hazardous material, or equipment
• Incudes following all safety procedures set by McRae Roofing Inc or It's customer.
• Requires exposure to high places.
