Job summary

Optimal is seeking a Design and Release Engineer for Roof Mechanisms Systems to own the design, validation, and release of moonroofs, convertibles tops, and related components. You will lead suppliers and guide cross-functional teams to meet cost, weight, performance, and timing targets across the product lifecycle.

The role is fully onsite, five days a week, with expectations to manage DFMEA, CAE activities, GD&T, and build robust interfaces across roof subsystems while ensuring regulatory

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• 2+ years in design, development, or launch of automotive mechanisms.
• CAD capable (CATIA, 3DX, Teamcenter) and familiarity with CAE tools.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, validate, and release roof mechanism systems for vehicles.
• Lead suppliers and guide design for quality, cost, and weight.
• Apply SDS/Design Rules and regulatory compliance; perform DFMEA/8D.
• Collaborate cross-functionally across engineering and manufacturing.
