Job summary

The University of Virginia Library seeks a dynamic Librarian for Romance Languages to serve as a liaison to multiple departments, support non-English scholarship, and collaborate on digital scholarship projects. The role is open-rank Academic General Faculty with three-year renewable appointments.

Reporting to the Director of Research in the Arts & Humanities, you will provide research support, instruction, and participate in regional/national professional associations, advancing collection

Qualifications

• Master's degree in library or information science or a terminal degree in Romance languages with academic library experience.
• Strong academic background in Romance languages and literatures, Latin American Studies, or related field.
• Advanced proficiency in Spanish (reading, writing, speaking).
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and emerging technologies including AI.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to thrive in a highly collaborative, team-based organization.
• Commitment to fostering an equitable and inclusive workplace.

Responsibilities

• Provide liaison to the Department of Spanish, Italian & Portuguese; Department of French; Latin American Studies; and related areas.
• Support non-English language scholarship and resources across UVA schools and departments.
• Provide research assistance to scholars at all levels and participate in digital scholarship projects.
• Deliver instruction in various formats and weave information, data, and AI literacy into curricula.
• Collaborate with Collections Management to establish collection priorities for foreign language and global studies materials; promote new resources.
