Job summary

Lone Star Paving seeks an Asphalt Roller Operator to join its Texas asphalt team. You will operate and maintain the roller, ensuring a smooth and level surface during paving operations.

The ideal candidate has up to 1 year of experience, strong organizational skills, and a safety-first mindset. Expect outdoor work, possible overtime, and coordination with foremen across projects in Central Texas.

Responsibilities

• Operate, maneuver and drive the asphalt roller machine.
• Inspect equipment before operating and after shift to ensure it is in good working order.
• Assist with patching, prep work, and general labor duties on the crew.
• Set up and move traffic control devices and signs as required by foreman.
• Perform additional duties as requested by supervisors.

Lone Star Paving is a paving contractor operating in the Central Texas region with paving crews, HMA, aggregate, trucking, milling, and quality control. Position Overview

The Asphalt Roller Operator is an integral part of the asphalt team that works with the crew foreman with primary responsibilities of operating a roller machine to tamp down and smooth out the asphalt that has been laid, making sure the asphalt is smooth and level. The ideal candidate is familiar with rolling machines of different types and has a thorough understanding of asphalt paving operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Must be able to run, maneuver, and drive the asphalt roller machine.
• Heavy equipment experience is a plus.
• Inspects equipment before operating to make sure it is in good working order and ready for the day, including post shift inspection for the same.
• Practices awareness of others working along side the machines, and exercises safety practices at all times. Safety is essential!
• General laborer duties associated with asphalt paving, patching or prep crews.
• Will be expected to leave the machine as required by foreman and job perimeters to help shovel, rake, and handle other small tools.
• Prior to concluding a shift, equipment must be cleaned and organized to company standards.
• May be called upon to run small power tools.
• Signal operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment and movement of materials.
• Assist in the placement, moving, and dismantling of signs, barricades, cones and other traffic control devices.
• Perform other duties as requested and assigned

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

• Entry Level Position
• Working knowledge of asphalt production and associated equipment, and an understanding of operations and safety requirements is preferred.
• Familiarity with OSHA regulations, a plus
• High School Diploma or GED preferred, but not required

Working Conditions

• Be available for overtime, extended hours, night shifts, and weekends as required.
• Some travel may be required as our operations span throughout Texas.
• Work is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include but not be limited to inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
• Must comply with the company's drug and alcohol testing requirements.
• Use of Personal Protection Equipment is required.
• Proper PPE is required at all times.
