Job summary

Solid Waste Services of West Virginia, Inc. is hiring for Roll Off Drivers at our Wright Sanitation division in Colliers, WV. You will operate a front load truck, ensure safe operation, and coordinate with supervisors on a daily route.

A CDL and DOT medical clearance are required, with substance abuse screening as part of DOT policy. We offer competitive pay, health and life insurance, 401K with company match, and a welcoming family environment.

Qualifications

• CDL Class B or equivalent with air brake endorsement.
• Must meet all DOT physical and medical requirements and pass a substance abuse screening.
• As a safety-sensitive employee, drivers are subject to random drug testing.

Responsibilities

• Operate a front load trash truck on subscription routes or municipal territories per DOT and company standards.
• Ensure safe and efficient truck operation and supervise helpers on the truck.
• Transport and dump municipal waste at approved facilities.
• Coordinate with Route Supervisor, Dispatch or Operations Manager for route instructions.
• Obtain load weight tickets and maintain related records such as logs and route sheets.
• Clean the truck daily and perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections.

Our Wright Sanitation division, located in Colliers, WV, is looking for reliable, motivated and hardworking Roll Off Drivers who play a critical role on the solid waste collection team to support our ongoing success in a family-like company environment while safely and responsibility removingour communities’ trash and recycling.

What You Will Do

• Operate a front load trash truck in accordance with DOT Regulations, Company policy, and in accordance with established standards for excellent customer service on established subscription routes or municipal territories as listed on daily route sheets, special orders, and regular work orders


• Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the truck, as well as the helpers assigned to the truck


• Transport and dump municipal wastes at a regulated transfer station or approved landfill


• Coordinate regularly with the Route Supervisor, Dispatch or Operations Manager to ensure all stops are picked up, and to receive any special instructions as well as communicate any questions materials, overweight or oversized items


• Obtain load weight tickets and sign for loads and maintains any related records required, i.e. driver’s log, route sheets, work orders, special request work, missed pick up logs, etc.


• Clean truck daily to ensure the vehicle meets company expectations to include cab, and ensuring that no trash remains in the truck after completion of the route


• Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections as outlined in the pre and post-trip vehicle condition report
  
  
  
  • Report any maintenance issues on the vehicle condition report (VCR) and report it immediately to the route supervisor or operations manager

QualificationsYou Are/You Have

• A valid WVCommercial Driver’s License (CDL Class B or equivalent) with air brake endorsement.


• Mustmeetall requiredDOTphysicalandmedicalrequirementsandpassasubstanceabuse screening.

• Ability to effectively deal with customers and co-workers.


• Requiresahighdegreeof attention and considerable dexterity in the control of the vehicle to prevent damage to truck, equipment, or surrounding items.


• Ability to sit in the cab of the truck for long periods. Able to bend, stoop, and climb into and out of the vehicle and body unassisted multiple times a day.


• Ability to push/pull heavy wheeled containers requiring heavy pushing/pulling force.


• Ability to lift 75 pounds.


• Ability to work outside in all types of weather.


• May be required to exit and enter truck multiple times during a shift and may be required to push/pull wheeled containers weighing up to several hundred pounds into position for pick up.
