BJU Press is seeking a Writer to join the writer team. The role focuses on planning and writing educational materials for students and teachers, leveraging formal training, classroom experience, and research.

The writer will collaborate with designers, editors, and specialists to produce textbooks and teacher support materials grounded in a biblical worldview. The writer team aims to deliver academically rigorous, pedagogically sound materials that integrate 21st century educational technology

Qualifications

• Collaborate with writers and practitioners from other departments in content development.

Responsibilities

• Plan and write student and teacher materials including student texts, teacher texts, student activities, assessments, and ancillary pieces.
• Work with designers to combine content with visual elements in a storyboard process.
• Coordinate with permissions specialists to ensure copyright compliance.
• Proofread manuscripts to ensure revisions are complete and content accuracy.
• Develop scope and sequence, objectives, and content for course revisions.

ROLE SUMMARY:

As a Writer at BJU Press, the ideal candidate will play a supporting role on the writer team by using knowledge gained through formal training, classroom experience, and research to plan and write educational materials for students and teachers. The writer will collaborate with other writers, instructional design specialists, biblical worldview specialists, educational technology specialists, designers, artists, production designers, editors, and permissions experts, to produce cutting-edge textbooks and teacher support materials.

About the Team: The writer team seeks to support the mission of BJU Press by researching and producing written manuscripts for instructional products that will be used by students and Christian educators from pre-school to grade 12. Writers produce materials that are written from and teach a clear biblical worldview, are academically rigorous and pedagogically sound, that develop critical thinking skills as well as a lifelong love of learning. Materials produced by writers incorporate robust educational technology resources and provide training in 21 st century skills.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work on a team to develop scope and sequence, objectives, and content for course revisions.
• Collaborate with writers and practitioners from other departments in the development of content.
• Plan and write student and teacher materials including student texts, teacher texts, student activities, assessments, and other appropriate ancillary pieces.
• Work with designers to combine content with visual elements in a storyboarding process.
• Coordinate with permissions specialists to ensure compliance with copyright laws.
• Proofread manuscripts to ensure all needed revisions are complete and that the content is correct.
