Job summary

Pape-Dawson Engineers is seeking an entry-level Rodman to support field surveying crews in The Woodlands, TX. The role involves assisting the Party Chief, carrying and setting up equipment, and helping ensure daily tasks run smoothly on site.

You will work outdoors in varied weather, assist with monument identification, and help maintain survey supplies and instruments for accurate measurements. This is a time-to-build opportunity with a collaborative team.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Ability to grasp basic surveying concepts and techniques.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for interaction at all levels.
• Ability to follow directions and work with engineering staff and management.
• Willingness to work outdoors in all weather and terrain.
• Physical ability to lift and carry survey equipment up to 35 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Clear brush and obstacles to maintain line of sight.
• Carry and set up equipment, such as rods, tripods, and prisms, for staking and measurement.
• Load and unload survey equipment and supplies for job assignments.
• Maintain survey supplies, such as nails, paint, rods, and flags, ensuring the crew is prepared for daily tasks.
• Gather supplies, dig for corners, and cut lines.
• Search for and correctly identify monuments.
• Plumb prisms to ensure accurate measurements.
• Measure distances using chains, tape, or other methods.
• Clean and maintain survey equipment.
• Complete other tasks related to field surveying as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED certification required.
• Ability to grasp basic surveying concepts and techniques.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees.
• Ability to follow directions from supervisors and work collaboratively with engineering staff and management.
• Must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions and terrains for extended periods.
• Physical ability to lift and carry survey equipment weighing up to 35 lbs. on a regular basis.
• Demonstrated dependability, reliability, and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
