Planet Group in Wilmington, MA is seeking an Animal Care Associate for our GEMS Breed Group. The role involves maintaining health, production, and the animal housing environment, including isolators or IVCs, under supervision.

This is a temporary opportunity with the potential to be hired as a full-time, employee. You will perform entry-level husbandry tasks, monitor animals for health issues, adhere to SOPs and safety standards, record data in ICM, and support shipments and genotyping as needed.

Qualifications

• Entry-level position; no previous experience required.
• Basic computer literacy to use a tablet and Microsoft Office.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow SOPs.

Responsibilities

• Perform entry-level husbandry tasks including supplying food, bedding, water and environmental enrichment.
• Maintain rat and mouse colonies, including matings, weaning and offspring sexing.
• Handle rodents for collection of samples and tagging for identification.
• Observe animals for health issues and abnormalities.
• Enter data into Internet Colony Management (ICM) and other databases.
• Follow SOPs and biosecurity procedures to maintain isolator integrity and animal health.
• Assist with general housekeeping and safety procedures.
• Support customer shipments, genotyping, health monitoring or transfers as needed.
