Job summary

Charles River in Wilmington, MA is seeking an Animal Care Technologist for the GEMS-Breed Department. The role involves maintaining animal colonies, training staff on SOPs, and ensuring welfare and biosecurity across isolators and barrier rooms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or equivalent plus related experience, or alternative education combinations as listed.
• Competent with tablet data entry and communication (emails, IMs).
• Ability to operate general computer programs and MS Office.
• Able to work with minimal supervision and maintain detailed data records.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and monitor health, production, and environment of animals in isolators or barrier rooms.
• Provide training on technical skills and SOPs to staff.
• Identify animals for shipments, genotyping, health monitoring, matings, and transfers.
• Enter data accurately into ICM and other systems.
• Follow animal welfare and biosecurity protocols and SOPs.
• Collaborate with team to train and mentor colleagues.
