Job summary

Relativity Space in Long Beach, CA is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer for the Stage Fluids team to implement the mechanical and structural aspects of Terran R fluid systems, ensuring reliable operation. You will lead design trades, mount structures, perform hand calcs and FEA, and collaborate across design, manufacturing, and vendors to deliver integrated fluid solutions on a rocket program.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or equivalent engineering.
• 2+ years mechanical design experience.
• Experience with a commercial CAD package (NX, CREO, Solidworks).
• Experience with GD&T, manufacturing, and interacting with vendors.
• Experience with fluid system components (fittings, seals, valves, regulators, etc.) and system testing.
• Experience with FEA tools to analyze structural margins.

Responsibilities

• Fluids routing and design trade studies.
• Fluids hardware mounting structure design.
• Fluid system hardware mechanical verification analysis including both hand calcs and FEA.
• Structural design of mounting hardware for various fluid system component and routing.
• Incorporate 3D printing methods in fluid system mechanical design.
• Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA).
