Job summary

The Y in Central Maryland is seeking an energetic rock climbing instructor to plan and teach classes, ensuring safety and high-quality instruction in line with the Association's guidelines. You will engage participants and reinforce the core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility in all activities.

You will lead classes, manage safety concerns, and foster positive relationships with climbers, families, and staff while supporting program goals and community well-being.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of safety rules for program area.
• First aid and CPR certification required within 90 days of employment.
• Belay training completed within 30 days of hire.
• Minimum of one year rock climbing/belay experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead a class independently, respond to safety and emergency situations, motivate and educate members, set up/move/store equipment.
• Demonstrate good communication skills and an engaging personality to relate to participants.
• Develop effective interpersonal relationships with children, parents and other adults as required for program area.

Position Summary

Plan and instruct classes in rock climbing. Provide participants with pertinent information, efficient service and instruct all classes within the guidelines of the Association to maintain the quality of the programs. Demonstrate a commitment to Y of Central Maryland core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility in all aspects of job performance.
