Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Rock Crusher / Front-End Loader Operator to join our construction and material-processing operation in Lower Dutchess County, New York.

This position is responsible for safely operating a front-end loader and rock-crushing and screening equipment to process, move, load, and stockpile aggregate materials.

The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience with rock crushers, screening plants, front‑end loaders, conveyors, and related heavy equipment. Candidates should be comfortable working in an active construction or aggregate‑processing environment and have a strong commitment to safety, productivity, and proper equipment operation.

Compensation

$35.00–$42.00 per hour

Compensation within the posted range will be based on relevant experience, qualifications, equipment proficiency, mechanical knowledge, and demonstrated ability to safely and efficiently operate crushing, screening, and heavy equipment.

Overtime will be paid in accordance with applicable federal and New York State law.

Primary Responsibilities

• Safely operate a front-end loader to feed rock, stone, concrete, aggregate, and other approved materials into crushing and screening equipment.
• Operate and monitor rock crushers, screening plants, conveyors, feeders, and related processing equipment.
• Maintain consistent material flow through the crushing and screening system.
• Load trucks and move, organize, and maintain aggregate stockpiles.
• Monitor crusher and screening operations to maintain production efficiency and material quality.
• Perform pre‑shift and daily inspections of loaders, crushers, screens, conveyors, and related equipment.
• Monitor equipment for unusual vibration, noise, overheating, belt‑tracking problems, material buildup, leaks, or other mechanical concerns.
• Immediately report equipment malfunctions, mechanical issues, and unsafe conditions to the appropriate supervisor.
• Assist with routine maintenance, lubrication, cleaning, belt inspection, screen changes, and other maintenance activities within the employee's level of training and authorization.
• Follow required lockout/tagout procedures before performing maintenance, clearing jams, or entering hazardous equipment areas.
• Maintain clean and organized work areas around crushers, conveyors, loaders, stockpiles, and processing equipment.
• Use approved dust‑control and material‑control procedures.
• Communicate effectively with truck drivers, equipment operators, ground personnel, mechanics, and supervisors.
• Follow established traffic‑control procedures and maintain awareness of pedestrians and other equipment operating within the work area.
• Complete required daily equipment inspection reports and operating documentation.
• Follow company safety policies and all applicable federal, New York State, and site‑specific safety requirements.
• Perform other related duties associated with crushing, screening, aggregate processing, heavy‑equipment operation, and material handling.

Qualifications

Required

• Previous experience operating heavy construction equipment.
• Experience operating a front-end loader.
• Ability to safely work around crushers, conveyors, screening equipment, trucks, and other heavy machinery.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to recognize unsafe conditions and potential equipment problems.
• Strong safety awareness and attention to surroundings.
• Reliable attendance and ability to report to work on time.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a construction and production team.

Preferred

• Previous experience operating a rock crusher and/or screening plant.
• Experience in quarry operations, aggregate production, excavation, site development, demolition, concrete recycling, or heavy construction.
• Experience with conveyors, feeders, screens, and crushing equipment.
• Basic mechanical knowledge and ability to assist with routine equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Experience operating multiple types of heavy equipment.
• OSHA or other applicable construction‑safety training.
• Valid driver's license if operation of company vehicles on public roadways is required.

Physical Requirements

The essential functions of this position may require the employee to:

• Frequently enter and exit loaders and other heavy equipment.
• Climb steps and ladders.
• Walk and work on uneven, rocky, muddy, or rough terrain.
• Stand, walk, bend, reach, crouch, kneel, and climb as required.
• Use hands and arms to operate controls, tools, and equipment.
• Lift and carry materials weighing up to approximately 50 pounds, with assistance or mechanical lifting equipment used when appropriate.
• Work around moving machinery and heavy equipment.
• Work in environments involving dust, vibration, noise, and changing weather conditions.

Schedule
