Job summary

Lumicity in El Segundo, CA is seeking a hands-on Robotics Technician to support the assembly, integration, testing, troubleshooting, and verification of complex electromechanical systems. You will work directly with mechanical and electrical hardware, read technical documentation, and build wiring and cable assemblies while diagnosing hardware issues with standard test equipment.

Qualifications

• Professional experience assembling, repairing, testing, or troubleshooting complex electromechanical equipment.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, assembly instructions, and parts documentation.
• Hands-on experience with mechanical assembly, connectors, cable termination, soldering, and basic electrical troubleshooting.
• Proficient with calipers, micrometers, multimeters, oscilloscopes, torque tools, and bench power supplies.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to document technical work accurately.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and integrate mechanical and electrical components per drawings and instructions.
• Assemble cable assemblies, wiring harnesses, connectors, and low-voltage systems.
• Perform electrical and mechanical checks using test equipment such as multimeters and oscilloscopes.
• Assist with system bring-up, commissioning, calibration, continuity checks, and functional testing.
• Investigate hardware issues by inspection, measurements, results and root-cause analysis.
• Perform approved repairs, component changes, modifications, and corrective work.
• Document build information, test results, inspections, serial numbers, and engineering feedback.
• Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing to improve processes.
• Support prototype and low-volume production as hardware evolves.

We are looking for a hands-on Robotics Technician to assist with the assembly, integration, testing, troubleshooting, and verification of complex electromechanical systems. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working directly with mechanical and electrical hardware, reading technical documentation, building wiring and cable assemblies, and diagnosing hardware issues using standard test equipment.

Responsibilities

• Build and integrate mechanical and electrical components according to engineering drawings, schematics, work instructions, and other technical documentation.
• Assemble cable assemblies, wiring harnesses, connectors, and low-voltage electrical systems.
• Perform electrical and mechanical checks using equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, torque tools, and dimensional measurement equipment.
• Assist with system bring-up, commissioning, calibration, continuity checks, signal verification, and functional testing.
• Investigate hardware issues through inspection, electrical measurements, test results, and root-cause troubleshooting.
• Perform approved repairs, component changes, modifications, and other corrective work.
• Document build information, test results, inspections, configuration details, serial numbers, and engineering feedback.
• Work alongside engineering and manufacturing teams to improve assembly, integration, testing, and production processes.
• Support both prototype and low-volume production builds as hardware continues to evolve.

Requirements

• Professional experience assembling, repairing, testing, or troubleshooting complex electromechanical equipment.
• Ability to read and work from mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, assembly instructions, and parts documentation.
• Hands-on experience with mechanical assembly, connectors, cable termination, soldering, fastening, and basic electrical troubleshooting.
• Comfortable using tools and equipment such as calipers, micrometers, multimeters, oscilloscopes, torque tools, and bench power supplies.
• Experience identifying hardware defects, assembly issues, quality problems, and nonconformances.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately document technical work.

Preferred Background

• Experience working with robotics, automation, aerospace, automotive, medical devices, or other advanced hardware.
• Familiarity with components such as motors, actuators, sensors, gearboxes, PCBs, wiring harnesses, batteries, pneumatic systems, or precision mechanisms.
• Experience with prototype builds, hardware bring-up, calibration, reliability testing, engineering changes, or low-volume manufacturing.
• Comfortable working in an R&D, prototype, or new-product-introduction environment where designs and processes may change frequently.
