Job summary

Sunday Robotics is seeking a Robotics Systems Software Integration Engineer to own software releases and integration for customer robots and internal fleets. You will coordinate release scope with engineering and product teams and drive testing with the QA team through deployment.

You will partner with the Infra team on build, release, and deployment tooling, monitor release health in the field, and communicate changes clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Qualifications

• 3+ years shipping software for robots, vehicles, or complex hardware-software systems.
• Proficiency in Python or C++, with ability to read and debug code in large codebases.
• Fluency with Git branching, merging, and release management and CI systems.
• Strong systems debugging and problem-solving using logs and code.
• Experience defining test plans and pass/fail criteria for non-unit-tested systems.
• Proven ability to coordinate across teams and maintain quality under schedule pressure.
• Clear written communication to explain technical changes to non-technical teams.

What to Expect

As a Robotics Systems Software Integration Engineer, you will join the Robotics Systems team and own software releases and integration for customer robots and our internal fleets. This role will coordinate release scope with engineering and product teams, establish release readiness criteria, and drive testing with our quality assurance team through to deployment. You will partner with Infra team on build, release, and deployment tooling.

What You’ll Do

• Own the release cadence, and assemble each release, pinning a compatible and reproducible set of versions across our repositories


• Keep regression, stress, and endurance test plans current as the stack evolves, with a clear pass or fail bar


• Investigate failures using robot logs, reproduce regressions, and drive fixes through merge and retest, implementing fixes directly or working with the owning engineers


• Ship releases to internal fleets and customer robots, and communicate what changed to engineering and non-technical teams alike


• Monitor release health in the field, land hotfixes quickly, and improve test coverage

What You’ll Bring

• 3+ years shipping software for robots, vehicles, or other complex products where software meets hardware


• Proficiency in Python or C++, and comfort reading and debugging code across a large codebase you did not write


• Fluency with git branching, merging, cherry-picking, and release branch management, and with continuous integration systems


• Strong systems debugging instincts: you can use logs and code to isolate a failure, reproduce it, and identify a path to a fix


• Experience defining test plans and pass or fail criteria for systems that unit tests cannot fully cover


• A track record of coordinating across teams and holding a quality bar under schedule pressure


• Clear written communication, including the ability to explain a technical change to product, operations, and support colleagues

Nice to Haves

• Experience deploying software to a fleet of devices in the field, including staged rollouts and rollback


• Experience with hardware-in-the-loop or automated on-device testing


• Familiarity with real-time robot software, such as controls, perception, or autonomy stacks


• Prior release engineering, quality assurance, or technical program management experience in an organization shipping both hardware and software
