Amazon seeks a Systems Administrator Engineer III to lead design, implementation, and improvements across the infrastructure that powers global operations. You will diagnose complex issues, automate workloads, and drive end-to-end projects with partners across teams.
The role combines hands-on engineering with project leadership, mentoring engineers, and shaping technical direction while delivering reliable, high-performing systems.
Are you passionate about building and maintaining the infrastructure that powers some of the world's most impactful technology? Do you thrive when diagnosing complex system issues, turning manual processes into automated solutions, and driving projects from concept to completion? As a Systems Administrator Engineer III at Amazon, you will serve as a technical leader responsible for designing, operating, and improving the systems and services that keep our operations running smoothly. You will work across multiple technology domains, including operating systems, networking, hardware, and software, to solve challenging problems and deliver reliable, high-performing infrastructure. This role blends hands-on engineering with project leadership, giving you the opportunity to plan and execute technical initiatives, mentor fellow engineers, and shape the technical direction of your team while collaborating with partners across the organization.
You might start your morning reviewing system health dashboards and triaging alerts before joining a project stand-up to check progress against milestones. After lunch, you could be leading an implementation review with your team, then coordinating with partner teams on dependencies for an upcoming deployment. Later in the afternoon, you shift to root-cause analysis on a performance anomaly, documenting findings and updating your project tracker before wrapping up.
