Job summary

Ideal candidates have a CS/Engineering degree and 1–3+ years of hardware-facing software experience with Python/C++, ROS, and Linux. This role offers in-person or hybrid work in Austin and a competitive compensation package.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or engineering preferred.
• 1–3+ years software development with hardware experience.
• Proficiency in Python and/or C/C++.
• Some frontend basics (HTML, CSS, JS).
• Solid understanding of algorithms and data structures.
• Experience with Linux.
• Familiar with CAN/USB/I2C/Ethernet communications.
• Experience with ROS 1/2.
• Projects moved from scripting to production/release.

Responsibilities

• Understand system requirements and translate into final solutions.
• Design high-impact features from ground up with architecture and workflows.
• Prototype, validate, and refine end-to-end features including SLAM and navigation.
• Develop lightweight frontends to demonstrate features and UX concepts.
• Test features in lab and simulated environments for reliability.
• Optimize video streaming for low-bandwidth scenarios.
• Collaborate with hardware teams for integration and issue resolution.
• Write design and usage documentation; ensure code remains readable and usable.
• Stay updated on users, best practices, and emerging tech.
• Communicate engineering direction with users as needed.
