Job summary

HFBAC - Hiring For and Building Awesome Companies in San Francisco seeks a Robotics Software Engineer to advance real-world labs. You will build motion planning, trajectory optimization, and vision-enabled control for robot arms operating in dynamic lab environments.

You will ship software to physical hardware, collaborate with scientists at customer sites, and own major parts of the robotics stack. On-site five days a week, you’ll join a fast-growing team with competitive equity and visa

Qualifications

• 1–8 years in robotics software.
• Strong in Python, with C++ a plus.
• Shipped software to physical robot hardware.
• Experience in motion planning, kinematics, dynamics or control.
• Degree in robotics, CS, EECS, electrical or mechanical engineering.
• Bonus: manipulation or pick-and-place work, lab automation, MuJoCo or PyBullet.
• Real ownership of major parts of the robotics stack.
• Broad scope, with deployment, platform and project lead work rather than one narrow track.

Want your code running on real robots doing real science, not stuck in simulation?

I'm partnering with a well-funded physical AI company in San Francisco. They've built autonomous labs where robot arms run experiments around the clock for drug discovery and gene editing teams. Their engineers come from Tesla, SpaceX, Neuralink and Amazon, and the founder has a deep AI and robotics research background.

What you'll do

• Build motion planning and trajectory optimisation for robot arms in busy, changing lab environments
• Ship code that runs on physical hardware, testing across simulation and real robots
• Use computer vision so robots can handle equipment designed for human hands
• Work directly with partner scientists at customer sites to solve their problems

What we're looking for

• 1-8 years in robotics software, strong in Python, with C++ a plus
• You've shipped software to physical robot hardware (this is essential)
