Job summary

Stealth Startup in Huntsville, AL, seeks a Control Systems / Embedded Software Engineer to bridge software and hardware for advanced robotics. You will design, implement, and test embedded control software for ROS-enabled systems, and work across Linux, real-time OS, and device drivers.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in embedded software/control systems, strong C/C++, Python, MATLAB, and experience with CAN and TCP/IP, plus eligibility for security clearances.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience in embedded software or control systems engineering.
• Strong programming skills in C, C++, and Python.
• Experience with ROS (Robot Operating System).
• Experience developing software on Linux and familiarity with Linux command-line tools.
• Experience with Git/GitHub.
• Knowledge of real-time embedded systems.
• Experience designing and implementing control algorithms.
• Proficiency with MATLAB, Octave, or Python scientific libraries (NumPy, SciPy, Matplotlib).
• Experience with embedded hardware, motor control, and sensor integration.
• Knowledge of CAN, RS232/422/485, and TCP/IP.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain embedded software for robotic and control systems.
• Develop software in C, C++, and Python for embedded Linux environments.
• Design and implement real-time control algorithms.
• Build and maintain device drivers and board support packages.
• Develop applications using ROS (Robot Operating System).
• Debug and integrate complex robotic systems across software, electrical, and mechanical domains.
• Interface with motors, sensors, and communication peripherals.
• Work with communication protocols including CAN, RS232/422/485, and TCP/IP.
• Utilize debugging equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other embedded development tools.
• Produce technical documentation for software architecture, testing, and implementation.
